Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz yesterday ordered two disciplinary hearings into a near collision between two planes at Ben-Gurion International Airport last week.
The incident was be the subject of a meeting at Mofaz's office yesterday, during which the decision to hold the hearings was made.
The hearings will have the mandate to recommend strong disciplinary actions, including termination, against those found responsible for the near-disaster.
Last Sunday, a plane was in the process of landing while another plane was preparing to take off from the same runway.
Mofaz said he is treating the incident like a major air disaster, and has instructed relevant officials and agencies to do the same.
