Dr. Avi Beker is the former Secretary General of the World Jewish Congress, the umbrella organization of 100 Jewish communities around the world. He lectures at the MA program on diplomacy at Tel Aviv University and on international law at the College of Kiryat Ono.
Beker was the Goldman Visiting Professor at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (2007-9) and was a member of the Israeli mission to the United Nations.
He has published several books and many essays on international security, United Nations and world Jewish affairs. His recent book, The Chosen - the History of an Idea, the Anatomy of an Obsession, was published in 2008 by Palgrave Macmillan.
