Zvi chose to mention the Bedouin pop of the Sinai to point out the anti-terrorism tactics of the Egyptians. The Sinai Bedouins hold a special place in the hearts of many Israelis who have spent spiritual times in the desert. The Bedouins have long been our friends, and for as long as I can remember harassed by the Egyptians, and thrown off their land, for the benefit of international hotels and Egyptian businessmen out to make a buck, which is fine with me. But Zvi in a disengenuous fashion by uses them as a pawn in his story telling. His fiction may not be up to the snuff of Amos Oz's but in this article he is doing his best. Smuggling on the borders is as old as the area itself. Bedouins have used these routes for ages, they are restricted because of modern states, but the same smuggling of women, drugs, slaves, and weapons has continued. This is the nature of the desert, not something new, nor is it a result of the war on terror. What's your agenda Zvi?

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, February 16, 2016.

If Merkel also criticizes Israel, life is not a piece of cremeschnitte

The Israeli reaction to Der Spiegel's report on the German chancellor's frustration with Netanyahu was ridiculous, even Orwellian; as if Israelis were aliens who had just landed from another planet.
