I reached the conclusion recently that Israe's publis space is like...No, not like, IS an all-in dog-fight. Partcipants are primed to savage each other at the bell. But I stand corrected. Dog-fight is the wrong animal comparison. Give and take is despised hereabouts. The American public sphere rests on general acceptance of Rules For Taking Turns. For perhaps understandable reasons-- alas history provided founding circumstances, this essential glue of a democratic outlook was never ever there. And after reading his rather intemperate lament I reached the conclusion that comparing Israel to a dogfight, or even a catfight, is misleading. Members of those species know as Rule #1 when to break off. Israelis? I'm always open to learning...
