Zionism as evidenced in Israel is not an intrinsic part of Judaism. It is nationalism that resembles past colonialism of the Western nations. If not for the Holocaust, the Jews that flocked to Palestine would still be thriving culturally and economically in all the Western nations from which they fled. Zionism has destracted many Jews from the realities of interacting with others on a level plain. Unfortunately it has also given rise to a subset of Jews that are zealots believing in a God-given entitlement at a vicious cost to Palestinians. Judaism is values that have been sustained for milleniums. Zionism is a modern day political event that distorts those values.
