Arabs have equal rights in areas such as politics but in other areas such as migration it gives preferential treatment to Jews as they have a RIGHT to become Israeli citizens( at taxpayers expense ) whilst non Jews have to REQUEST the right to move to Israel and that request can be denied. The national symbols are Jewish ones and the bulk of the street signs named after Jews and zionists, the working week is based on the Jewish cal lender etc because Israel is a JEWISH state its not the religion neutral state for all that the arabs are demanding. If it was not a Jewish state Israel would have no reason to exist because it was created for the sole purpose of being a Jewish state and thats what the UN voted to create in 1947 when they drew up the partition plan. It is also essential that the palestinians recognise Israel as a Jewish state if we are to have LONG TERM peace. The vast majority of arabs still see Israel as being part of palestine and its their duty to liberate all of Palestine with 2 states being just a stepping stone toward full liberation. If the arabs accept Israel as a Jewish state they are basically saying ok maybe Israel is part of Palestine but we are willing to give up that 78% of Palestine to the Jews to have as a jewish state in exchange for peace based on 2 states. Only when they accept that Israel is a jewish state will they end their right to one day liberate all Palestine. Arafat was willing to recognise Israel as a Jewish state so why isn't the so called moderate Abbas?

from the article: Before Abbas recognizes the Jewish state, Israel must define it
