Defensive occupations are permitted in law and this, according to the U.N. is a defensive occupation. The issue, Mr. Smith, is when is one required to withdraw from a defensive occupation. The basic rules are that "the State" that attacked must commit itself to peace and in this case must recognize Israel. That hasn't happeed. As to the world, we are plenty sick and tired of the insane and barbaric violence that the Arab world has given us. There is no State in those tradiionally Jewish lands and hence the justifications for settlements. Inany event, as Sinai demonstrated, settlements can easily be dismantled and as part of a peace agreement, some but not all of that will happen. Pals have to pay for their aggresion, their murderous and totally uncivilized behaviour. As to the so-called apartheid wall, that wall has saved lives. We all know that is meaningless in the Arab world but there is nothing more dignified in the Jewsih world. The only civilized position is to negotiate peace without pre-conditions. What we have here are pre-conditions, hence by people who seem to aspire to be brutal and uncivilized. For that I am sorry for it means more misery for all.
