This reminds me to the attitude of Jews during the Third Reich. They were paralyzed by what was done to them and tried to re-interprete the things around them religiously. After the Shoa quite a few of them had a broken relationship with G'd. Indeed, G'd was there before, during and after the Shoa. And He is also with His people, now. Our part is: not to bury our head in the sand, but to stand up, look up and lift our heads.
