The relationship per se had to be saved, even if not tackling the (logest) peace-process (in history) right at this juncture. This was not about the peace-process, not even about Iran, as it was about repairing the perception of an Israeli-USA rift. The rift itself was making Iran, Syria, Hezballah and Turkey salivate. And many posters here at Haaretz too. So be a little bit patient, Mr. Levy. This time it wasn't for peace's sake, but for PR's sake. And it was desired by both parties.
