The thing is Bruce, Israel can't go on endlessly scouring the world for Jews, in an ongoing desperate attempt to deal with the 'demographic problem.' If you want to keep Israel Jewish, then you've got to make it a place, where larger numbers of Jews want to live and raise families. That's not going to happen until you have peace with the Palstinians and a free and normal relationship with Arab neighbours. Imagine if you could drive from Tel Aviv to anywhere in the Middle East. It would just be an amazing place to live and work. Israel needs to put down roots in the Middle East community if it's going to get rid of that rather temprorary feel it still sometimes has. It needs peace just as desperately as the Palestinians (perhaps more so), if in a sligfhly less obvious way.
