The writer tries to be fair minded, he is not exactly painting Israel as a state interested in peace. In fact, he makes it clear that Netanyahu's moves are designed to make Israel "look like" it wants peace, meaning, the reality is essentially opposit. But let's be real. The US is NOT solely focused on Israel. Please stop the self absorption. The US is more focused on Iraq and Afganistan, Health Care and Financial reform than it is on Israel. The problem, frankly, is Israel's determination to make the world believe continued settlement expansion is somehow not a problem for peace prospects or US interests in the region. Now, the world is not buying it. Israel is not used to being called out.
