Bbib and Barak would get some needed support if Shallit were freed, and Hamas and the PLA would score an incredible triumph before the UN vote which will no doubt pass overwhelmingly if the US can't veto it. The real issue is if there can be negotiations for a settlement, or this is just another round in the fighting, and that heartened by victory the Hamas sticks to it's guns and attempts more kidnapping. Israel beware in any case.
