You all don't get it. Homosexuality, and gender identity disorder, are not choices. No one would choose to be gay. No one would choose to be born transgendered. Even the enlightened Orthodox world understands that there are issues for those of us who truly wish to live a religious life under the mitzvot. We aren't sick people who need therapy. We cannot change who we are. Orthodoxy has no answers for us, except to tell us to be something other than who we are. Your analogies to Shabbat and Kashrut are specious. Hashem made LGBT people the way we are. If Hashem created me, then there must be a reason that he created me a lesbian. But being gay is as much a part of who I am as being heterosexual is a part of who you are. You don't have to wake up every day and make a choice to be straight. I don't wake up every day and make a choice to be gay. I still choose to live a religious life, but within the Masorti movement in the US which allows me to be both lesbian and an observant Jew.
