You are not being oversensitive at all. A supermarket is not a synagogue or a yeshiva. I will never forget being thrown a long black skirt at the entrance to a Shefa Mehadrin supermarket in Bnei Brak 12 years ago. I was wearing jeans and a loose sweatshirt at the time. I threw the skirt back at the guard, told him where he could shove his groceries, and walked out. Good for you for not letting them get away with this.
