Sarid's caustic sarcasm about Bibi's views on running a state is quite out of place. There can be no doubt in anyone's mind, including Bibi's,that at the time of buiding the state collectivism and socialism was a must, reflected mostly in the kibbutzim and our virtually non-existent economy at that time. But, as the State developed and even kibbutzim had to convert to free enterprise, our economy demanded that we become an entrepreneurial society allied with care of the indigent, sick and dysfunctional. If we have fallen down in the care of the unfortunates this is the fault of all governments, both socialist and right-wing,and blame can certainly also be placed at the door of the present government and it is vital that we correct this terrible neglect, but to indict capitalism is unfair, especially when we see how this country has progressed economically.
