Yossi Melman in an article on 'Haaretz' on this subject makes two claims ,which to my mind, are astonishing. He first of all says it is not clear that the Iranian leadership wants to develop nuclear weapons. Who told him this? Mohammed Baradei. The Iranians have according to all major intelligence commentators that I have read ( except for Mr. Melman) been intensifying their effort to attain nuclear weapons. They have numerous times in closed- door sessions spoken of this as a major strategic goal to counter their great rival and enemy, the United States. The second astonishing statement has to do with the centrifuges. As early as four years ago Iran had thousands of centrifuges in place in an underground facility in Natanz. Whether they have been operation or not, I do not know. According to Debka file Iran has constructed a parallel facility to Natanz in which there are also tens of thousands of centrifuges.
