Why Haaretz gives the ever-pathetic Yoffie space in its pages defies understanding. Generalizations like "American Jews welcome the diplomacy of Secretary Kerry" are just that, empty generalizations. In my group of Jews in northern California, none of us support Kerry's efforts--based as they are on the so-called Arab Peace Proposal. None of us believe that there is anything negotiable about Jerusalem, and none of us believe that the 1949 "suicide lines" should be the basis for any settlement with the Palestinians. As to Yoffie's self-serving pablum "I, for one, would have preferred an Israeli position that promised to do more in freezing settlements while releasing fewer convicted murderers", this reader wonders why Yoffie doesn't condemn illegal Palestinian building throughout Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria--and why Yoffie thinks that even 1 convicted murderer should be released?
