More than that Muslim and Jew "share many commonalities of background and education," a key factor in the Kashuas and other families and individuals relaxing a bit, feeling safer a bit, and living more freely is that USA society and governments (federal, state, and local) DO NOT sanction bigotry, name-calling, segregation, demonizing any group or person based on any "ism" as here. And, USA laws drive the conversations, govern behaviors, and lead to consequences of noncompliance. Yes, abundant cases in the USA of attempts to reverse many such laws, and of anti-Semitism, ageism, homophobia, racism, you name it. Yet despite Tea Parties' mischief, zero tolerance for baseless hatred and discrimination ultimately prevails. Today, no clergy (any faith) or elected official (any locale) survives long after speaking bile and "misbehaving" mightily.
