    It is not a good thing if the inability to win is a direct cause of the next conflict. Surely it would be preferable for Israel to be able to conclude real peace treaties with the Palestinians and its neighbors, but in the absence of a real interest in peace on the other side, it is preferable for Israel to be able to decisively smash its enemies than a continuous series of wars leading nowhere. It was only when Germany and Japan were bombed into rubble that they began to beat their swords into plowshares and vowed never to make war any more.
