The Geneva Initiative. Oh, I was so glad back then. I thought they got it right, and still think they got it right. If only reality would acommodate. If only there were no rich American sponsors for settlements and bypass roads for them, and no Hamas and no shooting of bullets or missiles by them. If only Iran wouldn't exist, and Turkey would go back to the good old days; if only Likud wouldn't be sitting in government with Shas and Lieberman; and Obama wouldn't be so naive about Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Now comes Olmert (Smolmert?) telling us just like Barak did in late 2000, that he has offered everything imaginable, and still, no agreement with the Palestinians emerged. I almost believe it. Bush was toxic, and Obama is fresh air at least. If the recipe was always right, and the quarreling gourmets are just unhappy with it, then -what the heck- impose it and see what happens. At least the status quo would change. Oh, and the excuses for bashing Israel would have to change too.
