Israel will suffer for its mistake of self defence. That seems to be the Islamic line. Israel is not permitted to defend herself. Yes, Israel will take several hits for its conduct but that is a pretence and indeed confirmation that what Israel did was the right thing. Israel's penalty would be much greater if serious weapons make their way to Gaza and if there are no weapons, Israel has offered to deliver the entire cargo. Any person of good will should understand this but the Islamic world are not people of good will. The irony is that the delivery of serious weapons to Hamas will not only hurt Israelis but could be the death knell of Gaza. Israel has enormous military capacity that she has never used. More than likely the Arab nations understand this but there is a great danger that this capacity will be underestimated. Then we have a disaster in the making.

Why we don't know how to pick our leaders

Our craving for ideology means that we are partial to ideological leaders. But we need leaders who will make smart decisions that are aligned with the public interest.
