Although the British stood alone, after France's capitulation early in the war, the British would have been in extremely dire straits, had the U.S.A. not joined the war in December 7 1941. The British in their Island Home should thank their stars for America's help. And not only the British. Saying all this, one must never for a moment forget the great sacrifices that the Soviets made in defeating Nazi Germany.
