Israel is not as dependant on the US as people think. The substantial support of the US has only been in place since 1973, and is in decline. It would be possible for Israel to still be the dominant power in the Eastern Mediteranean without US support. This support of the US has often tied Israel's hands and has tended to ensure that conflicts are conducted from a political rather than a military point of view. This, in turn, has sometimes increased the loss of human life on both sides. Israel should delay attacking Iran because of three reasons. First, the Iranians are still a year or TEN away from being able to create a nuclear weapon. Second, the Iranian regime is unpopular inside Iran. Third, the Sunnis's or Gulf Co-operataion Council is concearned about the Iranians and it may be better to let them harden their opposition to Iran. Better to let the CIA, MI5, Mossad and all the rest bring about regime change with their dirty little operations.
