The Gaza and Lebanon yielded everything Israel asked for from those left behind - NOTHING. In both cases, Israel asked for and received nothing, insisting there was nobody to ask anything of. In the case of Egypt, Israel asked and received something and left behind somebody powerful enough to make good on the commitments. The same is true of the treaty with Jordan. In Gaza, Israel decided to deliberately leave behind chaos. That is what it got. In Lebanon, Israel deliberately decided the same and got the same. In both cases, alternatives were chosen to be ignored rather than empowering an entity less hostile that what was left behind. Like it or not. Israel is living with choices its government made deliberately and consciously, with knowledge and forethought.
