    There are many instances of massacres, genocide and a like in history (e.g. Armenians). One of the major items that set the Holocaust apart is the clinical (discussion, decisions and the associated scientific/technical process re methods) decision to kill all Jews. This was reserved to the Jews. This makes the Jewish element different from others who 'happen to be' in the camps. Both suffered, however, the Jews were scientifically and in a systematic and planned fashion set out for total and complete inhalation (to the extent the the documents are meshing evolutionary concepts - calling for complete as they argue that if few were to survive they would be the most dangerous). Thus the Holocoast is 1. definitely different and unique with respect to the Jews - the writer looks simply at suffering which is a very simplistic view and not at the grand design which made it so much different to the Jews.
