croissants are french, right? actually, they originated in austria. and sushi, that's japanese, right? actually, it originated in korea. a national food doesn't necessarily mean that a nation invented it; it simply means that a nation adopted it and made it it's own and eats a heck of a lot of it. it's like saying french fries aren't american because they originated in, what, not france, but belgium. seriously, people, stop making everything political, and let this nation take pride in the way it prepares beans for pete's sake...
