    It was also hard for me to give up singing in front of men. It was burdensome. I struggled a lot. But I told myself I did not want to be those type of people who right away choose not to be religious because of some things they would have to give up on. I find that to be such a lame excuse. LIFE IS A CHALLENGE. And yes, It is not easy to be a Jew, G-d sends us tests and challenges everyday in our lives which is what make the us, the Jewish nation, such a unique nation. We should take upon ourselves the example of Delia Spears. She could have chose to sing in front of men, but didn't instead fought hard to keep the mitzvah/commandmant of Kol Isha. I also went to Jerusalem for a year (planning to go back for a second) just like her. One of the things I remembered learning there was "Mitzvot are not restrictions, rather they give directions."
