Carnegie Trust (for World Peace) board meeting minutes reveal that in 1908, they asked if any means other than war could produce massive social change; in 1909 they concluded war was the best means; in 1910 they resolved to get America into war; after entry, they sent a telegram to Woodrow Wilson cautioning him not to let the war end too soon. Intended consequences, I'm afraid.
