The article is 100% correct but needs to go a step further. Hamas needs to keep Gaza in a state of war to ensure their own survival. Without an enemy Hamas has no footing on which to survive and their leadership are aware of this. The Hamas charter is to destroy Israel not to improve the living conditions of Gazans and create a legitimate state. Democracy and education would bring Hamas down and for that reason providing a common enemy to the people switches focus from how poorly Gaza is run. However, in this case there is no sympathy for the inhabitants of Gaza, if they are to thick to recognise this I guess they are getting what they deserve. You reap what you sow and in this case the stupidity of the civilians merely bolster the belligerence of the leaders! Finally as is seen in Syria when a few clever people work out how they have been manipulated for so many years and strive for freedom the Arab league sit by and watch 30,000 of there brethren get massacred! Israel is not the problem for the Arabs, their leadership is!

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, February 16, 2016.

If Merkel also criticizes Israel, life is not a piece of cremeschnitte

The Israeli reaction to Der Spiegel's report on the German chancellor's frustration with Netanyahu was ridiculous, even Orwellian; as if Israelis were aliens who had just landed from another planet.
