Levy is, as always right. The US doesn't treat any of its real allies the way it treats Israel. France got huge contempt poured on it for not rushing into the Iraq debacle. The UK got the cold shoulder for releasing the possibly innocent, and certainly dying, Libyan. The US uses muscle except with Israel. In this instance, as always, because of AIPAC and the US Jewish community, the US has shown itself incapable of disciplining Israel, its pampered, violent, out of control teenager. As with a lot of incapable parents it now needs to let the relevant authorities do the job instead. Here, that is the UN. Without a US veto, the Security Council could, almost immediately pass a resolution transferring the West Bank to UN control so that the UN, NATO and EU could oversee a transfer to a peaceful Palestine, as they did with Kosovo.
