Did anyone imagine that any captured territory would be unoccupied one day? The mills of the gods grind slowly. I remember back in the sixties, when the word "Palestinians" first began appearing in our university newpaper, the shock and furor that it engendered. Since I had been familiar with the history of the struggle, it came as a surprise to me that the "p" word had been able to slip past the Cerberus censors, but then I remembered how fiercely the Arabs had been struggling and decided that such powerful resistance had to be heard eventually. Simply put, the fire heats up the kettle and, if untended, the contents spill over in a searing eruption.
