I'm suprised to see that so many regard Israel's withdrawal as a signature of their defeat. Isn't it rather a sign of complete failure of the palestinians' ability to negotiate ? Supported by the US and Europe, Israel has tried many times to reach a serious bilateral agreeement with palestinians. But their radicals have always found a way to destroy already the first steps of a development towards peace. Hence Sharon finally decided to pick up his own plan without Palestinians, Americans, and Europeans. His unilateral plan seems to be, giving up occupation and fixing separation, at least for the next years to come. If Israel can't live with them, live without them. Remembering the scenes in Gaza after withdrawal of the IDF, and then the palestinian vote for Hamas, everyone sees palestinian credibility on reaching peace weakened severely. In contrast to the statements made by HAMAS leaders, the ball is within the palestinian field. Israel defeated ? No, that's rubbish !!!
