Its a party that was formed by defectors, Sharon had his stroke before his vision of Kadima ( take all land Israel wants leave the rest to palestinians ) could come into play, Olmert inherited the leadership and turned out to be the most unpopular PM in history, Livni took over from Olmert and she did zip so people lost confidence in the party. Mofaz had the opportunity to make the party electable again but he needed to be part of the coalition for that show people he was a man who got things done. First major challenge he can't agree with Bibi on the haredi draft so other members of the party pressure him into pulling out the coalition which he did. The election will probably be fairly soon and Mofaz hasn't had a chance to prove himself. Kadima are not going to hold another leadership challenge this side of an election so the party is going into the election with Mofaz as leader even if Hanegbi is a rising star. The party is finished and whilst they will win some seats at the next election they will be a minor party and imagine if that happens they will start talking about dissolving the party and moving to Likud & Labor. No matter what Mofaz or Hanegbi do not Kadima is going to be confined to the list of here today gone tomorrow parties this country has seen so many of over the years.

from the article: After failed bid to split Kadima, Likud officials fear Hanegbi’s growing influence in party
