A secular bi-national state could be a fine solution, if the institutions hobbled any attempt to infuse it with religion or ethnonationalism. If the state were hardwired to resist religious favoritism, and if changing the constitution required a strong supermajority, a binational solution could be a path forward. Settlers would stay, and buy property anywhere. Some Palestinians would return to abandoned villages, and migrate wherever they could afford it.
