In general the article is correct. What is missing is that the winterwar which was the reason for Finland to start the war 1941 - 1944 was started with the Ribbentrop agreement in which Soviet and Germany defined the start of WWII by divide which countries to attack. Germany accepted that Soviet attacked Finland. Finland knew this and Manerheim (President of Finland) was always very clear about that Finland was fighting for the interest of the people of Finland not Germany.
