Once upon a time - and I saw it, I remember it - Israel was David, standing up to Goliath, and defeating the giant. Israel was the nation which wanted peace with neighbors which would not allow it peace. Israel was a nation, beset by Arab nations, which gave full citizenship to it's Arabs though no Arab nation gave full citizenship to Jews. That was 50 years ago. Something happened, several things. The Six Day War gave Israel an astounding victory because Israel struck first. Then the Yom Kippur War shocked Israel with the vision of annihilation which had vanished 6 years earlier - while at the same time ending forever the threat of annihilation by Arab nations. Another five years gave the right - those Israelis politically descended from the Revisionist Zionists, total control of the nation which has persisted to this day. The revisionists had a vision of Israel extending beyond the nation achieved in 1948. Their vision was of a Greater Israel which has dominated Israel since.
