Of course, Israel cant be a state for jews only. But isnt it kind of normal for a jewish state (created by and for jews and zionists, which is absolutely good) to care about the identity and situation of the jews in their home country, their home land. Israel should treat every guest and foreigner inside Israel good and friendly, and shall not force him to obey the Torah law, since he is not an Israelite. But it really IS fascism (by the way, the word originally doesnt mean what it is associated with today) NOT to allow a jew follow the Torah and make it as easy as possible for him. Democracy may be useful for some things, but it isnt much more than a system, a tool. Its not a solution to everything and very certainly it is not the right way to lead a country. So one should value democracy, but not in a degree that makes every other way be a No-Go or unimagineable. For this would be not democratic. If the majority of Israels inhabitants or their elected Men and Women want these law, then it shall come to pass. THAT is democracy.
