Yonatan's remark reveals an unfortunate and parochial perspective. The fact is that when Soul Doctor played in New Orleans prior to its opening on Broadway it was a huge hit with the audience which was overwhelmingly non-Jewish. That was the magic of Shlomo Carlebach. His music has a universal appeal. When Neshama Carlebach appears with a gospel choir from New York she sends the same message. Soul Doctor is clearly no more just for Jews than is "Fiddler on the Roof."
