Cheri thinks 'It IS ridiculous that Obama would require Israel to completely freeze construction in East Jerusalem!.' You do know that Israel has no legal right to be in E J'sem at all under international law? It may control it militarily, under the laws of belligerent occupation. But is cannot unilaterally annex it without the civil authority's agreement. It can't settle its own Jewish people there either, again illegal under international law. The reason the laws are such is (largely) because of the lessons of WW2, where the Axis powers seized territories right left and centre, working on the 'might is right' principle. Well, it ain't right anymore since 1948, rules have changed for good. So, the President of the USA is rightly upholding the rule of law, as set out in the UN Charter and 4th Geneva Convention and recognised worlfwide. Cheri and Israel are the ones out of step with their 19th Century idea of colonial conquest.
