Netanyahu knows he cannot stop the Iran agreement, and he hopes to get some trade-off in Palestine by means of the putative American bridge proposal expected in January. He probably thinks that his disagreable hectoring will be forgiven by America, and he is right as far as the government may be concerned. But for the public at large, specially for Israel's Jewish supporters in the US, he is undermining the myth that American and Israeli interests are identical. He is showing that Israel will not hesitate to use the solidarity of international Jewry to thwart American policy. This is a dangerous game to play. It reinforces a stereotype that already exists.
