If Strenger wishes to write, it would be helpful if he would read beforehand. To claim Maimonides, Rav Soloveitchik, and even Yeshayahu Leibovitz would tolerate cremation is simply ignorant. With regard to the first two, certainly, it is also ignorant to say they would tolerate homosexual marriages. It is also ignorant, or deliberately dishonest, for Strenger to describe his views as "liberal." It insults all liberals. Like Stan Fish, Strenger represents a post-modern, post-liberal outlook that might try the term "progressive" instead. No actual liberal, Mill, Kant, or Hermann Cohen, would agree with Strenger. No "psychological treatment" in Haredistan? If Ivan Illich is correct, then this would certainly give Haredistan an advantage over the rest. Unlikely the Strengers would be tolerant of this. "[M]edication tested by researchers applying evolutionary theory..." ?? Does this mean drugs tested for harmfulness on animals first? Seems Strenger twists truth, as usual.
