Why- because there was no real freeze. Since it was the Israeli Ministry of the Interior that reported that Israel's settlement population grew by 2% during "the freeze"...I can believe the info to be correct. Extending the freeze would seem to be a cheap course of action since it would cost and change...nothing. The settlements would continue to grow...the Palestinians would save face...the peace talks could continue...and maybe at the end of it all...fewer dead people.
