The IDF had already hit all their targets. South Lebanon was destroyed. The fields were carpet bombed. The only targets left were Beirut downtown, which would destroy, Siniora, or Damascus, which would result in a Tel Aviv attack ... And they were stuck there begging the UN to help them. The UN would be required to disarm the IDF, and free the Arab prisoners, before disarming Lebanon, and freeing the Israeli prisoners ... wasn't that obvuius? If Israel wanted to keep fighting, they should have kept fighting. Then Egypt and Jordan would have overthrown their dictators, and the last fight would have happened. It is a shame that, with another 60 days of war, we all could have had peace. But instead, Israel decided to back out of the fight that they started.
