Chemi Shalev is wrong - Arab intransigence is a fact of life and Yair Lapid wants to separate from the Arabs. So does Netanyahu and most Israelis. But they are not prepared to let the Arabs pose a threat to Israel. There is an Israeli consensus the Arabs don't want peace and this reality is going to last for a long time. No one in Israel believes in the "peace process" apart from Tzipi Livni and she won't be sitting in the government. The two state solution was killed not by the Israeli Right but by Arab hostility to Israel's existence in any conceivable set of borders. This informs the next Israeli government's foreign policy outlook.
