As a child, they prayed in Hebrew and I could not understand a word, only having the fringes of talis swing into my face. I went to the reform temple to learn the prayers in English because I wanted to know what the prayers meant. I went to Sunday School and Hebrew school and learned Hebrew, Jewish History in English. Girls do no go to yeshiva, but girls can get a bas mitvah and greater freedom under reform. It is not traditional, but more liberal. I have visited Israel several times. I will never feel close to the orthodox because as a woman I am liberated and even thought of being a woman rabbi, unheard of in the orthodox world. The liberal reform movement is for me.
