Who is Tzipi Livni? The name vaguely rings a bell; perhaps from a facebook message. - Comment - Israel News | Haaretz Daily Newspaper

Seriously: Who is Tzipi Livni in Israeli politics after: 1. She won the last elections but didn't want to govern with the habitual jerks that inhabit the Knesset. (So why heading a list anyway). 2. She was completely irrelevant as "Head of the Opposition". 3. She -consequently lost to Shaul Mofaz in Kadima primaries. 4. Then she resigned as Knesset member and went home, to send facebook messages hinting she would be back in a purified realm... 5. Let her give lectures, write novels aboyt her time as Mossad agent, or become the major of some development town. Israel needs more solid, coherent leaders, who are capable of assuming the real moral and human environment, and work from there towards the ideal. Retreating, avoiding, resigning leads you to your kitchen and to even more irrelevant text messages from there.

Why Barak regrets speaking out on Iran

There was no security breach in what the former defense minister said about how an attack was thwarted; what has suffered is mainly Israel’s image.

How the bagel went from shtetls to haute cuisine

A visit to the world's bagel capital is a chance to marvel at how this unassuming Jewish-Ashkenazi food has come from its 17th-century beginnings.
