It is certainly sometimes unclear just who is speaking for who. Take this weeks G8 conference in Northern Ireland for instance. Leaders of the Western World queued up ratchet up the rhetoric and threats of increasing intervention in Syria and all the headlines portrayed 'Russia Isolated'. Yet, any study of public opinion, chatrooms, forums and threads throughout the West yield the uniform conclusion that there is no democratic mandate for such action. It seems then that, despite odd, utterly bewildering headlines and news reports of concomitant national media, Russia is speaking for most people!
