Like other Jews throughout the ages, Amos Shocken is eagerly anticipating the Messiah. His particular version is called "peace", but like the Olso messianists, he is confusing the dream with reality. Such political messianism led the Jews of Russia to the Bolshevik march of folly, and there are too many other such examples. And in contrast to Haredi believers, who have the suitcases packed to greet the arrival of the Messiah, Shocken and his co-religionist at Haaretz are also giving away their home, as well as ours. Will they ever learn from their naive mistakes?
