Labor left all of it's other goals in the dust bin of history because of the shock of the Yom Kippur War. No discussion of the decline of Labor, the rise of the right, and the current pathology of Israel may ignore the SHOCK of the Yom Kippur War. The hubris of Israel following the Six Day War was not attenuated by the Attrition War. It continued right up to the morning that Syria and Egypt struck. Going from believing that the nation is invincible and surrounded by inept cowards to fighting for existence in a few hours is bound to affect any nation. Israel has not recovered from that shock. Many of it's subsequent 'wars' have been little more than attempts to regain that feeling of invincibility and the comfort of 'deterrence.'
