War of Independence was a direct result of Jewish actions like Plan Dalet and previous actions stretching back to 1947 when the British Army left. The Arab states came in to assist the Palestinian Arabs being forcibly expelled by Jewish Terrorist units. Moshe Dayan stated the Syrian war was provoked by Israel. Israel attacked from land outside its borders. In other words it was an act of war to violate someone elses borders by moving troops in to lainch an attack from All that said...Whether it be offensive or defensive...in this day and age since the end of WW2 acquisition of territory by war is inadmissible. The only exception is if the attacking nation had previous Sovereignty of said land which Israel never has.
